good scents
I have long been obsessed with scent, and these days I can't seem to get any work done in the studio without a candle or incense burning. I like to burn only the most natural incense for an earthy, purifying scent. Here are a few of my favorites - Juniper Ridge of course, Ancient Forest, and Earth Church, which may be the best name ever. The smudges are collected from co-ops and herb shops from all over the country, they are one of my favorite things to collect. I burn them on a beautiful ceramic "print" by Wisconsin ceramicist Ken Keppers. The little cones are left over from my first attempt at incense making a few years ago, they are made from cedar wood powder, white sage, and pine pitch. I have a new batch of my own incense in the works - more on that later...

green winter
I moved my studio recently, and I have very slowly been decorating. Today I got a holiday gift in the form of a shelf for my plants (thanks Matt!). I think they'll be happy there, and I'm forever grateful to have some greenery around in the winter.
